Tour of the university area with Cooper Union’s New Academic Building (Thom Mayne / Morphosis) and the newly designed NYU Department of Philosophy by Steven Holl. Walk through SoHo, NoHo and the Lower East Side to new residential projects by Jean Nouvel, Herzog & de Meuron, Deborah Berke and George Schieferdecker / BKSK Architects and shops designed by Rem Koolhaas, Thomas Heatherwick, Hani Rashid, SANAA, and Philippe Starck.
Visit two art installations by Walter De Maria (The New York Earth Room / Broken Kilometer) and the Storefront for Art and Architecture by Steven Holl and Vito Acconci. The walking tour ends on the Bowery with visits to a new gallery designed by Norman Foster and to the New Museum by SANAA.
